Common questions

Mirror needs my microphone — what is it doing?

Mirror only uses the microphone while you’re actively tapping a record button. It captures your spoken practice answer, sends it to our AI pipeline (Deepgram → Gemini → Fish Audio), and plays back an optimized version in your own voice. The microphone is never on in the background.

How do I build a “voice signature”?

In Studio → Voice Signature → Calibrate, record three or four short samples reading the on-screen prompts. The cleaner the audio (quiet room, no headphones with mic feedback), the better your voice clone sounds.

How do I delete my account?

Studio (Settings) tab → Account → Delete account. This removes everything we hold about you (database rows, audio files, voice clone reference, Auth user) immediately and irreversibly.

If you cannot get into the app to do this (lost device, locked out), email me from your account email and I’ll delete the account within 7 days.

Why does the first AI response take a few seconds?

The first response of a session has to wake up the LLM and TTS pipelines, which takes 5–10 seconds. Subsequent responses are usually 1–3 seconds because the connection stays warm.

My voice doesn’t sound like me in the playback

Voice cloning quality depends on the samples you record. Try recalibrating in Studio → Voice Signature → Calibrate with:

TestFlight build expired — what now?

TestFlight builds expire after 90 days. Update from the TestFlight app on your device — the latest build will appear automatically. If it doesn’t, redeem the public link again.
